New Ministers and Catechists
At St. Joseph Catholic Church, all the Catechists, Ushers, Staff, and volunteers attending Vulnerable Adults are required to receive and maintain clearance to minister on behalf of St Joseph. Your Ministerial Leader will advise you when your service requires a clear record with Safe Environment. If you have any questions, please contact Olga Gilbert.
Registration as a parishioner for at least six months is indicated to begin the process. If you’re not, contact us for steps on how to proceed with the clearance.

The Safe Environment Clearance process has three steps: Screening, Training and Interview.
Screening Process
The Screening Form collects certain information used to determine your identity and history. Follow these instructions to create your record on Virtus.com.

The screening form has three parts:
Personal data
Personal reference information (Please provide daytime telephone numbers and email address. Please advise them to expect a call or text from the Parish Office for a short verification.
Permission for us to conduct a personal Criminal Background Check (CBC).
For your Training Option: When creating your record on Virtus make sure to select the Protecting God’s Children 4.0 Online Awareness Session (English / Espanol) as your training module. The class is online and it takes about 50 minutes of videos and short answers after each one of them. A certificate of completion will be kept on your record.
Personal Interview
The Personal Interview will be conducted by the Safe Environment Officer or his/her designate. You will be contacted soon after completing your class and verifying your references.
Completion
We truly appreciate all who are willing to participate in ministry, but you may NOT serve in any ministry to children, youth and/or vulnerable adults, at St. Joseph Catholic School/Parish, until all SEP requirements have been met. It is important to note that once you are clear to begin ministry, you must update your training annually by simply taking an online renewal class.
