Become Catholic - O.C.I.A.
Sacraments of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process that the Catholic Church uses to foster the spiritual journey of adults wishing to become Catholic. It is also the process that helps baptized Catholics who have not received first communion and confirmation, complete their sacraments of initiation.
At St. Joseph, we offer open enrollment for Sacramental preparation, meaning you can start at any time of the year. Most of the time, sessions occur on Wednesday. We meet in the Upper Room at 7 p.m. You will eventually be asked to attend the 8:30 a.m. Mass together with everyone else who is experiencing the preparation process. There are times we meet for special occasions on other days of the week especially in conjunction with the rites of OCIA.
The OCIA process is for adults and children age 7 or over. It is for both those who have already been baptized and those who are not baptized. OCIA is also for Catholics who were baptized but never received 1st Communion and Confirmation.
We'd love to help you on your faith journey. Get started today!
