Yes. Families participating in our Faith Formation programs must either live within the St. Joseph parish boundaries or be registered parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Our formation programs are designed to help families grow in relationship with Jesus and become connected to the life of the parish community. We hope your family will find a spiritual home here and grow alongside other families in faith.

Both of our programs — Pathways Family Formation or Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) — fulfill the diocesan requirement of a two-year preparation process for First Communion, which is typically celebrated in 2nd grade or later. We encourage families to choose the pathway that best fits their child’s needs and their family’s faith life.

Pathways is a dynamic, whole-family experience designed to help families grow in faith together at home and in parish community. If your child is beginning sacramental preparation and did not participate last year, register for Seek/Root. If your family participated last year, register for Mend/Nourish.

CGS is a beautiful Montessori-based approach that invites children into a quiet, hands-on environment called the Atrium. If choosing CGS, register for the Level that corresponds to your child’s age and grade.

Important: Families beginning sacramental preparation should remain in the same formation pathway for the full two-year preparation process. Families who begin preparation through Pathways Family Formation should continue in Pathways, and families who begin through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd should continue in CGS.

Students preparing for Confirmation in middle school participate in the Pathways Family Formation process through the Zeal/Sent pathway. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is available only through 5th grade and is not part of the Confirmation preparation process.

If your middle school student is beginning sacramental preparation and did not participate in Pathways last year, register for Seek/Root. If your family participated in Pathways last year, register for Zeal/Sent.

Important: Pathways Family Formation is the only Family Faith Formation option for middle school Confirmation preparation.

Students in 9th–12th grade who need Confirmation or any other sacrament preparation should contact the Youth Ministry Office for next steps.

Once registration opens (expected in late May), a “Register Here” button will appear at the top of this page linking directly to our registration portal.

From there, simply select your preferred session, complete the form, submit payment, and you’re all set. On-campus sessions typically begin in late August or early September, depending on the pathway your family is participating in.

Once registered, your family will be added to our email communication list to help you stay informed and connected throughout the summer and school year. Emails are typically sent on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.

If you do not receive those emails, please contact our office so we can be sure your family is included in communications.
