Altar Servers

“Ah, Lord God!” I said, “I know not how to speak; I am too young.” But the Lord answered me: “Say not ‘I am too young.’ To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak.”
— Jeremiah 1:6-7

An Altar Server is a young person who assists the priest at Mass and other liturgies of the Church. The ministry of Altar Server is open to all Catholic boys and girls who have reached the eighth grade in school, have been Baptized and received First Communion, and is a registered parishioner at St Joseph.

Training and formation for the ministry of Altar Server is offered several times a year. The formation involves learning the movements, gestures, and other skills required for serving at liturgies, as well as gaining a deeper understanding and knowledge of the Mass.
