— Mission Statement

We are pleased about your interest in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Anyone interested in creating comfort for others is welcome. No experience necessary.

Workshops

  • Tuesdays 1pm - 3pm Room 152

  • 2nd Monday of the month 6:30pm - 8:30pm Room 152

Hand knit and crochet items have long been a symbol of comfort. Inspired by other church groups, a prayer shawl ministry was started at St. Joseph’s in 2017. Since then, hundreds of shawls have since been provided to our community. Prayer Shawls are given for various reasons: grief, illness, or to mark a happy occasion.

The ministry encourages those who knit or crochet to work infusing their work with prayers for the recipients. We provide materials (aided by contributions which can be sent to the church office marked Prayer Shawl Ministry). Simple patterns can easily be completed by beginners.
